I am mega-excited to bring you these recipes!  I had such a fun week making, photographing and drinking all of these.  I think I was 99% nutrients by the end of it and certainly felt full of energy and vitality!

Strawberry and Cinnamon Protein Shake with Hidden Greens!

Strawberry and Cin Protein Shake

This is a delicious, creamy high protein shake, ideal for breakfast or a snack on the run.

Strawberries for vitamin C, Folate Acid and Potassium, Spinach for Iron, magnesium and Vitamin A and Avocados for a good dose of healthy fats and vitamin E means that this protein shake is packed with nutrients to help balance blood sugars, improve your energy production and your immune system amongst many other things.

Hions Purple powders gives it an extra dose of nutrients and a natural caffeine punch should you require it making it ideal after an early morning workout or the morning after the night before!

Adaptations

Snip 12 Swap the avo for a banana

Snip 9add a dollop of coconut butter or nut butter.  Alternatively swap the milk for coconut milk

Snip 10omit the purple powder and protein powder.  There is some protein in Spinach

Snip 2Stick blender and a plastic jug – easy to set up, easy to clean, couldn’t be simpler!

Add left over strawberries to  my Mood Lifting Super Porridge

Use up spinach in sandwiches and salads or:

  • 50g strawberries , washed and trimmed
  • 1/2 an avocado
  • Small Handful of spinach
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 scoop of unflavoured protein powder
  • 250 ml of milk of your choice  – I used unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp Hions Purple Powder (optional)

Method

  1. Put it all in a plastic jug and whizz up with your stick blender

Kiwi, Avocado and Spinach Protein Smoothie

Spinach Avo and Kwi

A delicious way of getting your greens in first thing. Packed with Vitamin C, Antioxidants and healthy fats, this is a 2 minute, high protein, nutrient packed breakfast on the go.  And if you are thinking eeeewww spinach….avocado….don’t knock it until you have tried it!

Adaptations

Snip 12Add in a banana

Snip 2Frozen ready peeled avocados….I still haven’t tried these yet but I really should! Stick blenders are really quick to use and easy to clean.

Kiwi, Avocado and Spinach Protein Smoothie (serves 1)

Ingredients

  • Handful of spinach
  • 1/2 an avocado
  • 2 kiwis peeled and sliced in quarters
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 scoop of unflavoured protein powder – I use MyProtein unflavoured beef protein)
  • 300ml milk of your choice – I use unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp Hions Greens Power (optional)

Method

  1. Put everything in a plastic jug and whizz with your stick blender

Raspberry, Banana and Beetroot Protein Smoothie

Rasp&beetroot

This is a beautiful looking and delicious way to include Beetroot and Raspberries into your diet!

Raspberries are high in vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, potassium, and manganese as well as lesser amounts of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B-6, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and copper.

Beetroot not only improves heart health, lowers blood pressure and slows the progression of dementia but it is also reported to improve muscle oxygenation during exercise, suggesting that increased dietary nitrate intake has the potential to enhance exercise tolerance.

Adaptations

Snip 14Swap the banana for avo – you may need to add a bit of stevia to taste

Snip 9Omit the banana and add a dollop of coconut and avocado

Snip 2I used the ready cooked beetroot that you can buy (just make sure it is not dipped in vinegar)!! I also used frozen raspberries

Capture Using frozen raspberries means that they wont go off!  Type Raspberries in the the search bar on this blog to find other raspberry recipes.  They are also nice on porridge. I love beetroot in salads sandwiches.

Raspberry, Banana and Beetroot Protein Smoothie (serves 1)

Ingredients

  • 50g frozen raspberries
  • 1 small banana peeled
  • 120g (1 medium sized) cooked beetroot
  • 300ml milk
  • 1 scoop unflavoured protein  – I use unflavoured beef protein
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Hions Purple Powders (optional)

Method

  1. Put everything in a plastic jug and whizz up with your stick blender

Raw Cacao, Banana and Strawberry Protein Smoothie with Hidden Greens

Needed greens…wanted chocolate…came up with this!!

This really hit the spot this morning.  Full of vitamins and minerals, absolutely delicious and all the mood lifting benefits of raw cacao.

Adaptations

Snip 14 Omit the banana and double up the strawberries

Snip 10Omit the greens powder and add a handful of spinach or kale. Swap raw cacao for unsweetened coco

Snip 9 Add a dollop of peanut butter, almond butter or coconut oil

Snip 2Stick blender!!  So much easier to set up and clean than a smoothie maker or standing blender

  • 4 medium-sized strawberries trimmed
  • 2 tsp raw cacao
  • 1 tsp Hions Greens Powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 scoop of protein powder
  • 300 ml milk

Method

  1. Put everything in a plastic jug and whizz up with your stick blender

Raspberry, Peach and Avocado Protein Smoothie

After an early morning session on my turbo trainer and before a long walk this was a delicious way to replenish my protein and carb supplies.

Raspberries are packed with nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, potassium, and manganese.

Peaches are high in minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese, phosphorous, zinc, and copper

With a dose of healthy fats from the avocado what more could you need?

Snip 10Omit the purple powder

Snip 9Add a dollop of coconut oil
