That said, I get it! Sometimes we just need a little something, and as little somethings go, they do not get much better or healthier that these little somethings!
Raw cacao is a mood lifting super food! It triggers the release of endorphins and opium like neurochemicals which we release naturally when in love or during sexual activity!! It boosts our levels of Serotonin, a substance in our brain which is responsible for maintaining mood balance. Low Serotonin can lead to depression. It is also high in magnesium which creates energy and combats fatigue.
As well as lifting our mood it is reported to:
- Improve memory
- Reduce heart disease
- Boost immunity
- Shrink appetite
- Improve libido
- Balance hormonal swings

Avocados are full of vitamins, particularly B vitamins as well as C and E. Not only that but they help you absorb all the fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E and K) from other foods, when eaten with those foods, so they are great to add to a salad or mix of vegetables.
They are high in fibre which makes you feel fuller for longer and are high in good fats – the ones that lower cholesterol.
High in omega 3’s, folic acid, B6 and potassium they are also good for your eye health and act as an anti-inflammatory agent.
Bananas are high in potassium which can help to lower blood pressure. However too much potassium can be dangerous so that, along with their high sugar content, means that bananas should be eaten in moderation. They are also high in vitamins C and B6 and fibre making them good for heart and bowel health and they contain an amino acid called Trytophan which boosts mood and preserves memory.
This recipe is:
You can omit the raw cacao and use cocoa but it does not have the same health properties. You only need to use raw cacao in small quantities so it does last a long time
Add a scoop of protein Powder
Omit the banana but you may need to increase the xylotol
The only way to make this quicker is with ready prepared frozen avos!
To use up your raw cacao search this site for raw cacao recipes – there are plenty and there will be a round-up of them at the end of this week.
