Raw cacao is a mood lifting superfood! It triggers the release of endorphins and opium like neurochemicals which we release naturally when in love or during sexual activity!! It boosts our levels of Serotonin, a substance in our brain which is responsible for maintaining mood balance. Low Serotonin can lead to depression. It is also high in magnesium which creates energy and combats fatigue.
As well as lifting our mood it is reported to:

Carob is reported to:
- Improve digestion
- Lower cholesterol

The best value Raw Cacao that I have found is from http://www.myprotein.com which is £4.99 for 250 gr. Once you are receiving email alerts from them they often have 30% off deals and other special offers. However you do need to pay a delivery charge of £2.99 for orders under £10 so either team up with some friends and bulk order or stock up on their range of other healthy ingredients. I buy their Almond or Peanut Butter, Coconut Oil and Protein Powder.
I buy my Carob Powder from http://www.amazon.co.uk and shop around for the best deal. I was in a hurry for mine so went for the one that was available on Prime which as Indigo Nutritions at £9.99 for a kg. It’s really good quality but there are cheaper options on there. The best I have seen is £2.52 for 500 gr from Buy Wholefoods Online.
Xylotol is a natural sweetener and can be found in all the main supermarkets.
This recipe is:
Add in a banana or 50g of oats
Add in a big dollop of peanut or almond butter
Omit the carob and spend your money on the raw cacao
Stick Blender – so much quicker to use and clean than a standing blender, ready peeled and destoned frozen avocado

Mood Boosting ChocoPro
- 250 ml of the milk of your choice – I use unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop of unflavoured beef protein or unflavoured vegan protein powder – I use My Protein’s for both
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 an avocado
- 1 tsp raw cacao
- 1 tsp carob
- 1 tsp xylotol
- Put everything in a jug and whizz with your stick bender until smooth
